Improving my gut health 

I have been feeling sluggish and not just the normal mum sluggish, so I’ve decided to focus on my health and first up is gut health. Signs of an imbalance of gut flora can include acne, low energy (meeee), digestive problems and low immunity.

So here are a few ways I am going to try and improve my healthy gut flora.

Cutting down on refined sugar and upping anti-inflammatory fats such as flaxseed oil, coconut oil and avocados. This will help eliminate bad bacteria. Probiotic rich food and vegetables will help to move the bad bacteria out of my system and leave an alkalising effect, which will hopefully end in promoting a healthy gut flora.

I am going to rest my tummy twice a week. I will start with once a week first as an adjustment period and then move to twice a week. This doesn’t mean that I am going to fast. I will still consume an array of vegetables, fruits and oils but in liquid form. Soups, juices and smoothies. I will be consuming the same amount of food but it will all be blended or juiced in order to give my digestive system a break.

Stress can be a big one when it comes to overall health and the gut is no different. Stress can override even the healthiest of diets. So I will ensure that I sit with my thoughts for at least 15 minutes each day. Either when I am walking, in the car alone or once the kids have gone to bed at night. We are in an age where everything moves so fast, we do so much and often so much for others, so its more vital than ever, to make sure you schedule in time to just be. Just be present, just sit or just listen. Also remember to breathe. As silly as that sounds we often have short shallow breaths. Take time each morning before you wake up and before you go to sleep to take at least five big, deep, long breaths. I also do this when I am stressed {insert stress head} so I do it a lot!

Hopefully within a few weeks I notice a difference. I shall keep you updated on Insta.
